DAWSON CREEK, BC: A male has been arrested following a series of events that began on Highway 97 in Dawson Creek on Tuesday…
Just before 8:30 AM, an officer witnessed a crash involving two vehicles on Highway 97 near the Dangerous Goods Route. A Chevy Tahoe failed to stop at a red light and crashed into the side of a Ford F150 pickup truck that was turning in the intersection. No injuries were reported.
The male driver of the Chevy was approached by the officer who witnessed the crash when the man fled on foot and approached another vehicle. The man assaulted and forcibly removed the driver and stole the vehicle. The officer attempted to stop the man but failed.
A pursuit ensued right after with the officer behind the stolen vehicle, the suspect fled down a dead end road. The suspect abandoned the truck and fled on foot. Officers called in a Police Service Dog and a short time later the man was found hiding in tall grass. The suspect was being combative and resisted and as a result was injured during the arrest. He was treated for minor bite wounds and remains in custody.
