QUESNEL, BC: A Quesnel man has been arrested by RCMP after an alert homeowner reported a theft in progress. Police say the suspect was attempting to take the ATV when the homeowner saw what was happening and called police.

Responding Quesnel RCMP members were quickly able to set up a perimeter in the rural area to contain the suspect and Police Dog Services (PDS) from Prince George was called in to track the fleeing suspect.
The suspect had abandoned the ATV, however, officers located the suspect who was trying to hide from police. The man was arrested a short time later and will appear in court at a later date. RCMP recovered the stolen ATV but found it damaged.
“The alert citizen, the quick actions of the officer, their coordinated response and knowledge of the area were key in the apprehension of the fleeing suspect and the recovery of the ATV”, said Quesnel Detachment Commander S/Sgt Andrew Burton.
