UPDATE 3: Police continue to investigate a fatal collision involving a single vehicle and pedestrian that occurred yesterday afternoon on Highway 97 between 18th Avenue and 22nd Avenue.
The female pedestrian, a student at the College of New Caledonia, was rushed to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The female driver, Michelle DAC, was arrested on scene and has since been charged with impaired driving causing death. She has been released from custody with a pending court date.
Prince George RCMP Traffic Services, with the assistance of North District Traffic Services and the B.C. Coroners Office, continue to investigate the collision.
UPDATE 2: Highway 97 is open as of 9 pm.

The female pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at hospital. It has been confirmed that she was a student at the College of New Caledonia.
The 47 year-old female driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving.
At this time, police would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation in remaining out of the area, as the highway remains closed.

Shortly after 4:40 PM on Wednesday June 6, 2018, the Prince George RCMP received multiple calls of a serious collision on Highway 97 involving a single vehicle and a pedestrian.

The collision occurred on the highway between 18th Avenue and 22nd Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to hospital by ambulance in serious condition, and the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
The highway is expected to be closed for several hours while investigators gather evidence.
DriveBC is reporting the highway will be closed until at least 12 AM tonight. Those using Highway 97 can access 15th Ave in both directions. Those heading north on Highway 97 will have to detour off to Central West.
