TERRACE, BC: Two prolific high-risk offenders are in police custody following a vehicle take-down Sunday evening…
Police say at approximately 6 PM, officers were advised by an off-duty police officer that two wanted criminals, one whom was considered armed and dangerous, were observed in a black truck heading toward Terrace.
A strategic plan was developed by the Terrace General Duty officers to stop the truck as it came closer to town, utilizing members from Crime Reduction, General Investigations, West Pacific Region Traffic, ICARS, and Police Dog Service Units.
“The arrest of these two men is the result of great team work and strategic planning”, said Staff Sergeant Michael Robinson. “Getting these two high-risk offenders, both wanted on warrants, off the streets is a win for the Terrace community and speaks to the hard police work of the Terrace Detachment.”
As the truck was observed closer to Terrace on Highway 16, a marked police vehicle attempted to stop it, but the truck sped up and fled. A spike belt was deployed, deflating all four of its tires and slowing it down significantly. The truck turned off Highway 16 and onto Kirkaldy Street. It continued to flee from police until it collided, at low speed, with a police vehicle.
One of the high-risk offenders then fled on foot, but was stopped by the Terrace Police Dog Service team, allowing officers to take the man into custody. Drugs and cash were seized at the scene.
Lane PEEPCHUK, 44, of no fixed address was arrested on warrants related to forcible confinement, assault, assault with a weapon, robbery, possession of a weapon, uttering threats, drug possession, and failure to comply with conditions. He faces two new charges of failing to comply with a recognizance.
Mark BARG, 48, of no fixed address Terrace, was arrested on warrants for failure to comply with a probation order. He faces new charges of flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and two counts of failure to comply with probation.
