WILLIAMS LAKE, BC: Three suspects have been arrested following a vehicle incident on Highway 97 in Williams Lake on Friday…
Police say at approximately 5:17 PM, an officer from Prince George observed a vehicle driving erratically along Highway 97, potentially placing other motorists in danger. The officer ran the Alberta plates and they had come back stolen. The Ford F350 pickup was also stolen from Prince George. The officer called for assistance.
Williams Lake General Duty and Traffic Services officers arrived to assist the Prince George officer in efforts to stop the truck. Officers set up spike belts at two locations along the highway and managed to flatten all four tires. The truck was eventually disabled after colliding with a police cruiser.
Three men jumped out and fled but were quickly apprehended by officers. All three suspects, who are known to police, remain in jail. No one was injured during the incident.
“The RCMP would like to thank the public, who stayed away from the scene at the time of the incident given it was very dynamic involving these offenders who demonstrated a complete disregard for safety. If any member of the public has obtained video of the apprehension of these offenders, it is requested they contact Cpl. Black of the R.C.M.P. at 250-392-6211.” said OIC Insp. J.L. Pelley.
Investigators will be working with the BC Prosecution Service and pursuing charges in connection with this matter.
