Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the Prince George region beginning this evening and ending Friday morning… We will update this story as the storm progresses.
10 to 15 cm of heavy snow is expected to fall this evening and into the overnight as rain is expected to change to snow as the temperature drops. This warning includes those who travel along Highway 16 from Terrace to Prince George as the storm system is approaching from the BC coast and moving east. Wind will also be a factor.
Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
A significant Pacific low pressure system will move into the BC interior today, creating a strong easterly flow of moist air over northeast BC. A long period of snowfall will occur today through Friday morning. The snow will finally ease Friday afternoon. In addition, strong northeast winds gusting to 60 km/h will give areas of blowing snow through Friday morning.
