Police say just after 6:00 AM, officers received a report of a robbery that occurred outside a residence near the corner of Redwood Street and Strathcona Avenue in Prince George.
Indications were that two masked men forcibly stole cash and a vehicle from an adult male in the area. The victim ran to a near-by convenience store and contacted police. Initial search for the vehicle was unsuccessful.
At approximately 1:30 AM on Thursday March 8th, a member of the Prince George RCMP’s General Duty Section attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car near the corner of Malaspina Avenue and Domano Boulevard in Prince George. The driver ignored police emergency equipment and failed to stop. The officer did not pursue.
A few minutes later, the suspect vehicle was located near the corner of Cowart Road and Highway 16 West and another attempt to pull the vehicle over was made. This time the driver pulled over. Officers located a 35 year old male driver and two female passengers, aged 35 & 37. The vehicle was confirmed to be the stolen car from the previous morning. All three were taken into custody without incident.
Boyd Allison MATTESS, a 35 year-old male resident of Prince George, has been charged by Provincial Crown Counsel with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 and will appear in Provincial Court later today. The two females were released without charge.
