Suspect caught in connection to stolen vehicle incident…

QUESNEL, BC: A suspect is in custody following a Police Incident in Quesnel on Monday…

Police say at approximately 11:30 AM, a General Duty officer noticed a vehicle near the hospital that matched one stolen out of Prince George. The driver of the vehicle noticed the officer and fled at a high rate of speed to North Quesnel. The officer did not pursue.

Shortly after the initial sighting, the same officer located the stolen vehicle unoccupied on a dead end street. Officers had then set up containment of the area and called for a Police Service Dog (PSD) from Prince George to track the suspect.

The PSD led police not far from the suspect vehicle to an outbuilding where the suspect was found hiding under a tarp. The man was arrested and treated for minor injuries from the PSD.

The man, who is well known to the Quesnel RCMP, was transported to the Quesnel Detachment cells and is being held for court.
