Just after 6:00 AM on Wednesday February 14th, 2018, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from Westgate Avenue in Prince George. The vehicle was stolen earlier in the morning and was described as a 2006 Ford F-350.

Extensive patrols were made throughout the community. At approximately 9:15 AM, officers located the stolen vehicle being driven from a residence on Nation Crescent in Prince George. The vehicle crossed 15th Avenue and entered a private parking lot with only two exits. Police officers positioned their vehicles in such a way as to prevent the suspect from gaining access to 15th Avenue where members of the public would be at an increased risk.

In an apparent attempt to escape, the suspect accelerated toward and collided with a fully marked police vehicle, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The suspect exited the truck and attempted to flee on foot, however he was arrested a short distance later. One officer received treatment from paramedics for minor injuries.
