Update 2: Snowfall Warning for the Pine Pass, more snow for PG and windy conditions…

Update 2 at 5 PM: If you’re travelling south of Prince George, visibility could be poor in areas along Highway 97 due to gusty winds causing drifting snow as shown below in the DriveBC cam for Highway 97 at Chamulak Road.

Update: Snowfall Warning issued earlier today has been cancelled. As of 4 PM.

Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for the Pine Pass today as 10 to 15 cm is expected for parts of the Central Interior and up towards the Pine Pass.

5 to 10 cm of snow is also expected to fall around Prince George and Quesnel today and into this evening. While those heading south, could expect Freezing Rain from Williams Lake to 100 Mile House on Highway 97.

Wind is in the forecast and it will cause blowing snow in the Prince George area today. Check for the latest! Wind has already caused havoc in the Peace Region causing the Alaska Highway to close between Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. issued a new active link for the Alaska Highway closure. A Pacific front will sweep down through the Interior today. It will combine with a frigid Arctic airmass already in place to produce snow.

The snow will start early this morning, with total accumulations of 10 to 15 cm expected by the time the snow ends this evening.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
