WILLIAMS LAKE, BC: One man has been arrested following a series of events that unfolded Monday evening in Williams Lake…
Police say on Monday at approximately 6:38 PM, officers were called to a Hit and Run collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Pinchbeck Street and 7th Ave.
Upon RCMP arrival, officers learned that a station wagon crashed into a pickup truck at that location rendering the truck inoperable. The driver of the station wagon fled the scene.
Moments later, officers located the station wagon near Barnard Street and 4th Ave and attempted to arrest the driver but before that could happen, the suspect rammed the police cruiser while in reverse with the intention to escape police. The suspect failed his attempt to flee police and was arrested.
Further investigation revealed the station wagon was stolen from a home that had been broken into. The suspect was involved in the B&E to the home.
The 42 year-old male, from out of town, was held in custody and appeared before a Judge on Tuesday.
Police have recommended the suspect be charged with Break and Enter, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property and Fail to Stop at the Scene of an Accident.
