CHETWYND, BC: One person has died and another is in serious condition following a two vehicle crash on Highway 97 east of Chetwynd Wednesday…
Police say just before 11 AM, a northbound driver lost control of the vehicle he was driving, crossed the center line and collided with a commercial truck in the southbound lane that was hauling hay.
*The male driver of the car was seriously hurt while a passenger in the same vehicle died on scene. The driver was taken to hospital in Chetwynd for treatment. The truck driver was not hurt.
It is not known if weather conditions or any other factors had a role in this crash, police haven’t released those details.
Highway 97 was closed for several hours while RCMP conducted an investigation.
*Correction.. We had written that the driver of the car had died but an update to us stated the driver was hurt and the passenger died. The driver was taken to hospital in Chetwynd and not Dawson Creek. We apologize for those mistakes!
