PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Today and Saturday could be one of the busiest days on local highways…
That being said let’s not rush now! Local highways in BC North are mainly clear with slippery sections on all routes out of the city. We ask that motorists slow down just below the posted limits due to icy conditions and compact snow on Highway 16.
A number of crashes on Thursday closed Highway 16 West of Prince George for hours in the afternoon and overnight. One crash was fatal. Weather conditions likely played a role as fresh snow fell in many areas overnight Thursday. We are awaiting details on the incidents from Thursday.
Talk about weather change.. Brr! Winter has arrived for the Prince George region just in time for Christmas. And we even got coated in fresh snow that makes it feel more like the holidays! However, temperatures are expected to drop near minus 30 after Christmas with daytime highs in the minus 20 range. No snow for the Prince George region this coming week but snow could be in the forecast for the Peace Region tonight. About 2 cm. Most areas in BC North will be cold and sunny on Christmas Day.
PJXM will be closed on Monday and Tuesday and reopen on Wednesday at our regular time of 4 PM for any news from over the weekend. Emergency related information will be provided on our website if anything occurs.
