PRINCE GEORGE, BC: On Tuesday October 3rd, 2017 at approximately 4:00 PM, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a missing 72 year old male hunter in the Willow River area off Upper Fraser Road, northeast of Prince George…

The man and another adult male were hunting together and opted to go separate ways.  The two had planned on meeting up later, however one never arrived.

The Prince George RCMP requested assistance from Emergency Management BC who activated the Prince George Search & Rescue Society.  The BC RCMP’s Air 3 helicopter was also deployed, but only until sundown. Search & Rescue personnel remained searching on ground until just after midnight, when search was suspended.

The RCMP’s Air 3 helicopter and Prince George Search & Rescue personnel re-attended the area and resumed search at first light this morning.  At approximately noon, the missing man was located and rescued by Air 3.  The man was in good condition.

The Prince George RCMP would like to remind hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts to ensure that they are well prepared before setting out into the back country.  Warm clothes, water, food, a first aid kit and communication equipment like a satellite beacon, are strongly encouraged.
