Police say the collision took place near the 7000 block of 100th Ave in the city. Upon arrival to the scene, officers learnt that a pickup truck was travelling west on 100th Ave when it veered off the roadway and into the ditch.
Motorists stopped to check on driver who was in medical distress. Witnesses acted quickly to remove the driver from the vehicle and provide first aid and call for help. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the collision. It is believed the driver was experiencing a medical emergency.
The Fort St. John RCMP is thanking those who stopped to help the driver and call for help.
