Suspect crashes stolen vehicle while evading Police…

PRINCE GEORGE, BC: Police have one suspect in custody following a report of a stolen vehicle on Friday afternoon…

Just after 3:00 PM on Friday September 22nd, 2017, the Prince George RCMP received a report of a 1999 Ford E250 van that had just been stolen from a residence on Babine Crescent. It was also reported that the owner of the vehicle had been injured while attempting to stop the suspect.

Multiple police units responded to the call including General Duty, the Prince George RCMP Street Crew, and Police Dog Services.

The owner of the van sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The vehicle was located approximately twenty minutes later, driving on Highway 16 West near Kimball Rd. When officers activated emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the van, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed in order to evade police. The vehicle entered the Blue Spruce Trailer Park, where it subsequently collided with two metal gates and a police vehicle.

The van eventually came to a stop after hitting a group of trees. The suspect fled the vehicle on foot, but was quickly apprehended by the Police Dog Services team and a member of the Street Crew.

The 31 year-old Prince George man was held in custody and is facing multiple charges following the incident.
