FORT ST. JOHN, BC: The Fort St. John RCMP received a report of a youth waiving around what appeared to be a handgun in a parking lot near 101st Ave and 96th Street Thursday…

Multiple officers attended the area and when the youth was told to stop and drop the gun, the youth continued to wave the gun around, then took off running from the officer.

Officers pursued the individual until they were able to take him into custody without incident in the 9700 block of 102nd Ave.

The guardians of the youth were located and police learned that the youth has several disabilities and may not have been able to comprehend the severity of his actions.

Police spent considerable time explaining the possible consequences when officers receive a report of an individual with a handgun.
