Updated: Police search for missing Smithers man…

UPDATE: Sean David KUNTZ who was reported missing on June 18th 2017 has been found. Sadly Mr. Kuntz was found dead. On Saturday, July 1, 2017, Lillooet RCMP, and the local Search and Rescue located Mr. Kuntz in the Fraser River… 

The family of Mr. Kuntz have been notified. Investigators do not suspect foul play and BC Coroners Service has conduct of the investigation. The RCMP will not be releasing any further details on this matter.

The RCMP wish to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation.

SMITHERS, BC: The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man last heard from on June 13…

Sean David KUNTZ, 45, was reported missing by his mother to the Saanich RCMP who immediately notified Smithers RCMP.

KUNTZ told his mother that he would be riding his bicycle from Smithers to Saanich to meet her. KUNTZ left Smithers on Friday, June 9, 2017 and he had last texted his mother on Tuesday, June 13 and told her he was in between Quesnel and Williams Lake BC. It is believed that KUNTZ has been sleeping on the side of the highway.


KUNTZ is described as:

  • Caucasian
  •  5’ 11
  •  Well Built
  •  Dark eyes
  •  Dark Hair
  •  Missing half of his thumb

Police, family and friends are very concerned for Sean’s wellbeing and ask that if you see him to please call your local RCMP.
