FORT ST. JAMES, BC: One person has died following a serious crash Thursday morning along Highway 27 at Airport Road near the community of Fort St. James…
North District RCMP say the collision involved four vehicles, three logging trucks and a car and occurred at around 9:00 AM.
Upon arrival, officers learned a southbound car had stopped to turn left onto Airport Road off Highway 27. A southbound logging truck had also stopped and was subsequently struck from behind by another logging truck which pushed the stopped truck into car.
The impact of the crash then sent the stopped truck into the northbound lane where it collided head-on with a third logging truck that was headed north. That part of the crash caused a massive fire to one of the trucks as it hit the ditch.
One of the truck drivers died while the other two truck drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. Weather conditions were poor at the time of the crash due to heavy snow.
Highway 27 is still closed as of 6 PM and will likely be closed for a few more hours according to DriveBC.ca.
