PRINCE GEORGE, BC: A female youth is in hospital and police are continuing to investigation following an early morning collision involving a pedestrian.
On Tuesday December 20th, 2016, at approximately 1:00 AM, the Prince George RCMP was called to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the corner of Rainbow Drive and Liard Drive in Prince George.
Police and other emergency services attended the scene and located a 14 year-old female suffering from serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved initially stopped, but fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.
It appears that the small SUV was westbound on Rainbow Drive and struck the northbound pedestrian crossing Rainbow Drive. A North District RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called in to assist with the investigation. The scene was closed for a number of hours.
Investigators attended a residence on Irwin Street where they located and arrested the 31 year old man believed to be the driver of the vehicle. He does not have a valid driver’s licence.
The investigation is in the beginning stages and will look into many possible causal factors.
