Update: Environment Canada will be updating this forecast today at some point with higher accumulating snow than predicted on Thursday. In total for two days, 10 to 20 cm is forecast, therefore a snowfall warning will be issued by EC. The system is expected to leave Saturday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Pine Pass…
Motorists should take precautions as this will be the first significant amount of snow for the Northern BC mountains. Environment Canada is forecasting 5 to 10 cm beginning on Friday and continuing throughout Saturday.

Potential for the first significant snowfall of the season for the BC Peace River District and Highway 97 – Pine Pass.
A cold front is forecast to push southward from the Yukon into Northern BC on Friday. Rain and cold north winds will develop across the BC Peace in the morning and daytime highs will struggle to reach 4 degrees. The rain is expected to change to snow Friday night.
Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected Friday night with the greatest accumulations over higher terrain. Additional snowfall is likely Saturday before the precipitation ends late in the day.
Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.
