UPDATE 2: If you’re travelling through the Pine Pass snow is expected overnight. 10 to 15 cm is expected. Snow will change to rain again Wednesday morning.
UPDATE: Snow is now expected around Tumbler Ridge and higher elevations in that region. 10 cm is forecast.
Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the Peace Region beginning this evening. Two day rain totals could reach 100 mm in some areas, Details below… We will continue to monitor this forecast.
A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected.
Heavy rain will begin in the B.C. Peace District this evening.
An Alberta low will deepen and move northwards today, spilling a very moist circulation over the B.C. Peace.
The rain won’t taper off until Thursday afternoon, leaving two day rainfall amounts of 60 to 80 millimetres.
Higher rainfall amounts are likely over communities on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains including Hudson’s Hope, Chetwynd and Tumbler Ridge. In these areas two day rainfall totals could approach 100 millimetres.
If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
