Police say at around 7:45 PM, officers received a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue where shots may have been fired inside a home.
Around the same time, officers received information that a 20 year-old man had been brought to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite all emergency medical efforts, the male succumbed to his injuries.
Police believe this incident to be a targeted incident and is gang related.
The North District Major Crime unit along with the local Forensic Identification Team, the North District Regional General Investigations Section, the Williams Lake General Investigations Section and Police Dog Services have been called in to assist in this homicide investigation.
In addition to the investigation, the RCMP continues to work with its partners like CFSEU BC and the community to address the issues of gang violence through education and prevention initiatives, in order to help reduce the impact gangs have in our communities.
