Update: PJXM has now confirmed that two people have died as a result of this accident. The two were in a car when it collided with a commercial vehicle and burst into flames. The names or hometown of the victims have not been released. Highway 97 reopened to full traffic late Friday evening.

Police responded to a serious crash involving a commercial transport vehicle and a passenger vehicle just before 10 PM, approximately 5 km north of McLeese Lake.
Officers arrived on scene to learn that a passenger vehicle collided with a transport truck and both vehicles burst into flames.
Due to the severity of damage to the passenger vehicle, police were not able to determine the number of possible occupants inside.
The cause of the collision is unknown at this time and officers remain on scene. The highway is currently open to single lane alternating traffic.
