GP RCMP investigate child luring attempt…

Grande Prairie, AB: Police are investigating an incident where two women in a black van approached a child on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on 71st Avenue near 99th Street at about 3:45 PM. A black mini-van pulled into a driveway and a young woman got out of the driver’s seat. She asked the child if she wanted a ride home.

The child declined and a second female opened the passenger side door and told her she could get in the van. The girl declined a second time and continued walking until she could safely call her mother.

The driver is described as:

  • Female
  • 5’5 – 5’6
  • Filipino
  • Black hair in a high pony tail
  • Small build

The passenger is described as:

  • Older
  • Dark grey hair
  • Filipino
  • Wearing a colourful dress

Police are working to locate the van and identify the people involved to investigate the incident further.

RCMP urge parents and caretakers to educate their children to stay away from strangers and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
