Fort St. John man arrested following robbery…

Fort St. John, BC: A Fort St. John male was arrested on Sunday after he was tracked following a robbery of a local gas bar… 

Police say on Sunday, February 7 at approximately 2:25 AM, Officers responded to the Shell Station on 100th Street after a staff member called 911 reporting an armed robbery had occurred.

An unknown male walked into the store brandishing a handgun and demanded money and cigarettes from the staff member. The male then fled the store on foot towards the curling rink. 

RCMP contained the area and started to track the man with Police Service Dog ‘Barter’. After a lengthy track, Barter located the suspect along 86th Street and was immediately arrested.

Ryan OLOFSON, a 22 year-old male from Fort St. John, was held to appear in court before a judge on Tuesday. 

Charges for robbery and firearms offences have been approved against OLOFSON. OLOFSON was released on bail pending his next court appearance on March 9, 2016 in Fort St John Provincial court. 

Police are requesting that anyone that was in the area of the Shell at the time and may have witnessed the robbery to please contact the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
