Suspect in custody following robbery in College Heights…

rcmp_crest_bigPrince George, BC: One person is in custody and facing multiple charges following a Theft turned Robbery in College Heights this afternoon.

On Monday, January 18 at approximately 3:00 PM, RCMP received a report of a theft in progress at a large box store on the 5000 block of Domano Boulevard in Prince George.

Indications were that a male had stolen a television from the business and fled.  During the theft, the suspect pulled an edged weapon on staff members that were attempting to stop him.

The suspect fled on foot towards the corner of Domano Boulevard and McGill Crescent.

Multiple police vehicles attended the area immediately. A police service dog team and the RCMP’s Air 4 helicopter were also called to the area.

Approximately 40 minutes later the suspect was located and arrested in the parking lot of Ecole College Heights Elementary School. Some students and parents were on the school property at the time, but no one was hurt.

The suspect is a 27 year-old Prince George resident well known to police.  He was also wanted on a previous warrant for breaching conditions of his Undertaking.

He will be held in custody overnight at least until his first court appearance tomorrow.
