Police say at approximately 4:45 PM, officers and other emergency crews responded to the single vehicle Motor Vehicle Incident located 20 km north of the city. Investigation has determined that a southbound vehicle towing a horse trailer lost control in heavy rain causing the trailer to overturn. The trailer was occupied by two horses. One of the two horses unfortunately died of injuries sustained in the crash while the other was taken to a vet clinic for treatment.
No person suffered any injuries. The highway was closed for a short time while emergency responders attended the scene.
Neither speed nor alcohol were considered as factors in this incident and no charges are expected to be forthcoming.
