Prince George, BC: A Prince George RCMP Service Dog is being credited for locating a missing 2 year-old toddler on Tuesday…
Police say at around 11 am, officers were notified of a missing child that wandered off from playing in an unfenced backyard of a local residence. The caregiver had walked into the home to tend to another child and that’s when the unattended toddler roamed off the property. When the caregiver returned within a few moments, the child was gone.
Multiple police officers immediately attended the residence off North Nechako Road in Prince George. Police Service Dog ‘Dero’ was deployed to search. Within minutes, ‘Dero’ located the child approximately 80 metres into a wooded area behind the residence. The toddler was happily playing, and unharmed.
The Prince George RCMP would like to remind the public to pay very close attention to young children, as it only takes a minute, or less, for them to wonder off on an adventure or worse. Police are very happy that the child was unharmed.
